An Idyllic Tropical Paradise
Braganza House is a private four bedroom luxury property nestled in the pretty village of Mihripenna, overlooking lush tropical gardens and extensive paddy views. Infused with intriguing Moroccan and Mediterranean details against the stunning natural beauty of Sri Lanka, our island retreat welcomes you with a strong sense of openness, incorporating nature’s best at every turn. The house is just a few minutes from the stunning beaches of Talpe on the South Coast, and only 20 minutes from Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site showcasing the colonial heritage of Galle.
A sanctuary for the senses
Opened in December 2021, Braganza House is owned by British designer Chlöe Elkerton, founder of Singapore based interior design firm E&A Interiors. Her vision for the villa was to create a beach house in the countryside, bringing together her passion for different cultures – from Greece to Morocco to Bali. Influenced by the natural elements of Sri Lanka, the villa’s colour palette of corals, pinks and greens, fits in perfectly with the surroundings and reflects the ocean, flora and fauna of the island.
From the architecture to the interior, every aspect in Braganza House has been meticulously planned and designed by Chlöe. Beyond a deep personal expression of taste, Braganza House is also an embodiment of her vision, passion, and extensive knowledge of interior design.
The villa’s open and spacious layout with its generous verandahs is inspired by traditional Sri Lankan bungalows, while the interior pays homage to local building style with its numerous built-in polished concrete features. In contrast to the rustic architectural framework, the interior is a sophisticated mix of handcrafted furniture, unique antiques and artworks sourced from all corners of the world, with exquisite fabrics from world-renowned designers such as Fermoie, Penny Morrison, Paolo Moschino, Peter Dunham, and Vaughan Designs.
Our Team
Whatever your needs are, our experienced and dedicated team go above and beyond to ensure your stay will be a truly memorable one. Kumara, our attentive house manager, oversees the team and upkeeps Braganza House’s high standards. House stewards Ivon and Prasanga ensure that every corner of the property is meticulously taken care of. Chef Prabath, famed for his signature lobster dish this side of Galle, helms the kitchen and is sure to impress with his extensive knowledge of both Sri Lankan and international cuisine. Our night watchman Udana patrols the premises throughout the night. Last but not least, while you’re here, don’t forget to say hello to Avocado who is our playful rescue dog!
